Marilyn Manson - London - Review

Being fashionably late the self proclaimed 'God of Fuck' Marilyn Manson erupted a smoke filled Wembley Arena from behind a dark cloth covering the front of the stage, as the opening guitar work of #Revelation 12 teased the audience before the cloth dropped revealing Manson, leg in cast, strapped to an upright throne on wheels. Driving the stage centre his band mates made up the energy running spots either side of him, "How are we feeling tonight London?" he shouts as two stagehands clad in blood stained surgery gowns help him from his throne and into a leg support allowing him to walk. His lack of movement and heavy leg support don't hinder the incredible vocal ability put on show throughout Disposable Teens and mOBSCENE before taking a seat back in his throne for Deep Six, as the surgeons change his attire to a gown of jet black feathers he introduces the next song with a change of title "We're all stars now, in the Depp show" and his good friend J

Creeper - London - Review

Image
(Creeper - London - 2017) Bringing their 'Theatre of Fear' tour to Londons Shepherd Bush Empire, Creeper embarked on their biggest headline gig to date. The lights shone up to reveal a Southampton World Fair '67 backdrop before an old formal announcement rang through the venue introducing us to the fair then being halted as the stage lights began to flicker and the audiotape started to jump. Through a burst of smoke the bands adapted character James Scythe appeared in the middle of the stage warning the crowd of whats to come before another blast of smoke changed him into Mary, another character developed in Creepers world, "He's here" she shouts as the world fair banner drops revealing The Stranger staring into the crowd. The beginning of Black Rain chimes in as the band appear of stage donning their all black and callous heart patches. Shooting through, previously unheard live before this tour, Winona Forever, Room 309 and Darling the band give

Lil Peep - London - Review

Image
Lil Peep, Islington Academy, 2017 Recently Lil Peep dubbed the saviour of emo bought his Come Over When You're Sober tour to the UK, I attended the London date and here's how the prestigious member of the Goth Boi Clique got on. Lounging onto the stage with his signature pink hair he had definitely not come over sober, getting right into his heavily backtracked set. Playing songs from his entire back catalogue between the Crybaby mix and his debut album Come Over When You're Sober he ploughed through an undecided setlist picked on the go. An exquisite back set featuring artistic designs flowed behind him and even shone certain music videos when appropriate. Songs like Beamer Boy, The Brightside and U Said got the loudest and most energetic responses apposed to when he played 3 unreleased songs straight which slowed the energy down a bit. Climbing around the stage donning a nearly empty bottle of Hennessy and bragging about how drunk he was might have explained w

Love On The Road: Liam Torrance - Casey

1. "The longest time I've been away from Danielle was probably our very first tour, it was with Capsize and 68 and pretty much lasted for the whole month, as far as tours go it wasn't really that gruelling but the way the shows spanned out over lots of travelling was tough to touch base with home when I had five minutes, I think that tour showed me how supportive she was of what I do and helped me get to grips with what I'd be doing a lot more of." 2. "The longest I've gone without speaking to Danielle was on our 1st run with Being As An Ocean, my phone provider didn't know I was travelling and they blocked my phone, it was truly hell because we were moving house at the time so I just had to assume everything went okay, a few weeks of borrowing phones and relying on decent venue Wifi." 3. "I don't think we are at a decent level where our partners can travel with us just yet, that would have been amazing but there's nothing glam

Love On The Road

What's it like to go on tour when you're in a relationship? Is it a smooth ride or the highway to hell? In this new project called 'Love On The Road' I want to explore different artists experiences with their partners during time away with the band, how they deal with communication issues or what happens what their partners hitch a ride on the tour bus and what trouble arises when love goes on the road... I've based this project on the following 5 questions which are presented to each artist I speak to to which they interpret how they want to, these are those 5 questions: 1. What's the longest time you've gone without seeing your partner while out on tour? 2. What's the longest time you've gone without speaking to them? 3. Has your partner ever travelled on tour with you? (where and for how long?) 4. Is there a difference between UK and overseas tours in the sense of you and your partners relationship? (contact/experiences?) 5. What's

Reading Festival 2017 Review

Image
So I attending Reading Fest for the first time this year and saw quite a few bands for the first time, this is what I made of them. -fRIDAY- Jimmy Eat World: sEVEN / tEN Coming onto stage with a slow burner followed by heavy hit Bleed American the crowd were immediately bouncing along singing the words back. Slugging out some fast paced classics and slowing the crowd for more modern ballads, they eventually pulled out their biggest hit 'The Middle' bringing a nostalgic end to the set. Boston Manor: sIX / tEN Tapering between in rock star style and dickishly late the Manor guys played their first song 20 minutes after due time, still performing strong with fast hard hits such as Stop Trying, Be Nothing and Trapped Nerve causing a circle pit round the tents support poll they rocked the stage hard, before spinning the chilled Broken Glass. The singer telling the crowd he'd been waiting all day for this slot was taken with irony though before finishing their set nearl
