'WTF Have We Missed?!'

A summery of WALLFLAGs top gems dropped throughout quarantine . Well it's been a while hasn't it and what a couple months it's been! Since most of life as we know was called to a halt it back in March under Covid circumstances we've all been sat around without much to do and hey that's okay, we've learnt to bake, started working out, read a couple books and hopefully had the chance to check out the absolutely fine selection of musical releases that have kept us here at WALLFLAG_ ticking over (while we did none of those things above and just binge watched Peep Show over and over). Sports Team - Deep Down Happy Now we're fans of Sports Team here if you hadn't noticed so their blissful debut album 'Deep Down Happy' obviously cannot be ignored, dropping back in June this six-piece indie lot took on Lady Gaga (of all people!) in a battle for UK #1 but only just came out on the under. Taking jabs at the middle class and not short of politics e

Hotel Lux - Barstool Preaching - EP Review

South London quartet Hotel Lux have finally rolled out their long anticipated debut EP 'Barstool Preaching' through Nice Swan Records. If you're crossing off the days on your calendar till the boozers reopen after this lockdown and wondering what the hell to do with yourself let's introduce you to this lovely little lot, migrating all the way from coastal Pompey Hotel Lux have told us all about their dear love of Southern London, a few pints of lager and a good laugh with your mates throughout all their releases and 'Barstool Preaching' continues to share those stories through an array of jolly little tunes that might just make these times a wee bit more enjoyable. Opening with 'Tabloid Newspaper', released back in November 2019, sets the tone for what we're going to hear on this release, a bouncey guitar led track chatting to the audience in that signature awkward tone we love. 'Eddie's Gaff' comes next, given to us at the beginning of

Daniel Curcio, Palaye Royale - An Interview

After a by chance meeting one night in West London, the week before their highly anticipated sold out show at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, WALLFLAG_ got the chance to bump shoulders with Palaye Royale bassist Daniel Curcio eventually sitting down to chat about his vast array of instrumental and writing ability, having a Christian rock upbringing, fashions place in music and more! WALLFLAG_ : So you grew up in New Jersey and are now based in LA right? Meaning you've grown up all around music presumably, what's that been like? Any standout memories? DANIEL :  "I did grow up in New Jersey! I love New Jersey and always will. Thats where all my family is from besides my brother and father.  And yes-I grew up around music but not in the sense you would imagine. My parents were heavily involved in the christian music scene, and helped run the biggest christian music festival in the world since I was born. So I grew up around the rockstars of christian entertainment busine

Para Fiction - EPISODE III: PANDEMIC - EP Review

Brighton punk-rap outfit Para Fiction have released their much anticipated 3rd EP, 'Episode III: Pandemic'. Aptly named for our current circumstances 'PANDEMIC' was actually planned much before as this release acts as the final in a trilogy of EPs put out by the guys over the last 12 months, talking on this 'episode' they explained its definitly a darker take on their usual music but that's just all part of its story commenting on the dog-eat-dog world we live in and the slow demise in humanity we face. The duo made up of rapper James and producer Jules, otherwise known as Anti Jambo and Coding dude, have said time and time again their influences cross many genres (with the likes of Rage Against The Machine, Beastie Boys and The Fall just to name a few) and this release is just even more evidence towards that. At just under 20 minutes this 6 track EP weaves through the loud and proud punks and down towards the UKs (and specifically Brightons) DIY undergrou

WALLFLAG_ Presents : 'ave a look son!

During the current circumstances when we're all stuck at home with nothing to do, us at WALLFLAG_ thought we'd lend a hand to the old entertainment spectrum and put together a brand new 'WF_ Presents:' series, 'ave a look son! A new playlist sharing some of the biggest tunes recently released by our favourite new and upcoming bands featuring 2 exclusive *standout songs* that shouldn't be skipped! In a time when we don't have much else to do, why not sit down and have a listen to someone who might just become your next favourite band . 'WALLFLAG Presents : 'ave a look son! Playlist' * Killing Roy - Amplifier * * Standout song - Being only the 2nd release from this London based 5 piece they certainly hit the mark with this indie rock number, driven with loud guitars and heavy drum beats it builds through catchy but powerful choruses towards an in your face instrumental crescendo, which puts this into 'Ave a look sons!' first ever pa

Wallflower - an Interview

Given our current unfortunate circumstances being stuck at home under quarantine we at WALLFLAG_ haven't had much on our plate lately, Luckily London based Alt-Rock group Wallflower came out the dark to rescue us with news of their debut album 'Teach Yourself To Swim' and an exclusive new single 'Hungry Eyes', geared with a notes app full of questions we dusted off the old Skype account, switched on the old voice recorded app and said hello to Vini (vocals and guitar) and Sam (lead guitar). Talking about what the bands been upto between their releases, getting all the gossip on their much anticipated debut LP and discussing the effects the Covid-19 pandemic is having on not just the music industry as a business but the people who make it up as well. WALLFLAG_ : "So before a couple of weeks ago it was nearly 2 years since we heard any new music from you? So let's talk about the gap there! What did you get up to? Been writing and touring away no doubt?

Talking about Aliens: Gerard Ways Solo Career

- a not so brief talk about Gerard Ways vastly overlooked solo career. My Chemical Romance frontman and all round music icon Gerard Way unveiled on Instagram recently a selection of previously unheard recordings and a near finished song, now I know this is going to be hard but it's about time we actually put MCR to the side and all started to talk about our emo kings incredibly selection of solo projects. Just over 7 years ago on March 22nd one of the biggest bands to come out of the Alt-Rock scene and one of the original proclaimed 'emo trinity' My Chemical Romance broke our hearts and annouced that they would be splitting up, a heart aching day for music of course. As time passed we all began to wonder what would become of these musicians we'd watched and sang through an array of universes created in each and every album and wow what we've been treated to in the time since then, not just 6 entire albums and various other EPs and singles between Gerard, Mikey
